General Information
Climate change is one of the greatest challenges we face today. It cannot be solved by a few individuals; it will require communites around the world to work together towards global solutions. Countries of the world have come together before to address challenges – from Nazism to the hole in the ozone layer – so we know that this is not impossible. But it will require some governments to step up and show leadership.
That is where BC comes in. Our government has made some steps towards solutions, but it is not yet enough. On August 25th, we will be reminding them what is at stake. Climate change will hurt not only our natural environment but all the people who live off it. Our future is at stake and so our government has a responsibility to future generations to act on climate change.
The Ride for our Future is a youth-organized bike ride for British Columbians of all ages from the Scott Road skytrain station to our parliament in Victoria, with participants from the island joining us along the way. The event will culminate with a rally at the Legislature. People from across BC will be joining together, by participating in the ride, and by showing support by growing our petition, in order to deliver a strong message to our provincial government that we care about our future and the role they play in protecting it.
